How does airbrush tanning work?

Airbrush tanning is a process that allows a uniform amount of tanning solution to be applied to all parts of the body, resulting in a natural looking tan. No streaks or splotches! DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) is the main tanning ingredient in the Tropical Mist tanning product. When applied to the skin, the DHA reacts with the proteins and amino acids in the top layer of the skin to form a golden brown color. Your skin will begin to darken within 2 to 3 hours after application but will reach its peak color at 24 hours.

How long does airbrush tanning last?

It is suggested if you have no tan base that you receive two tanning sessions in the first week which will allow you to form a nice base tan. From this point you can determine how tan you want to become. Most only require maintaining their tan once a week. We have found that on the average your tan will last from five to seven days, depending on your activity level and skin type.

How safe is Tropical Mist airbrush tanning?

The ingredients in our tanning products have been used safely in cosmetics for years. DHA itself has been the active ingredient in numerous self tanners for over 30 years. As you may have experienced though, due to the formulation and method of application, it often produced an orange tint and/or dark palms, elbows and knees, etc. Our airbrush tanning system applies our tanning product so evenly that it eliminates all the preceding drawbacks and gives you a beautiful bronze tan.

What do I need to do to prepare for my tanning session

It is recommended that you exfoliate your skin with a non moisturizing soap in the shower or bath the morning of your tanning session. If possible, shave the day or night before, not the day of your tanning session. Do not use any lotions, oils, perfumes or makeup before your tanning session. Wear loose fitting clothing and sandals/ flip-flops to your appointment. No socks or athletic shoes.

Current Tanners - If you currently are tanning in tanning beds or the sun, you will see a dramatic difference with just one tanning session (The equivilant of at least two tanning sessions in a high poweed tanning bed). Tropical Mist works with your existing tan and deepens it significantly. Tropical Mist will not effect your ability to continue to tan using other methods. Tropical Mist is also a perfect choice for a quick boost to your tan for special occasions.

Non-Tanners - If you would like to be tan, but due to the overwhelming concerns about UV exposure you choose not to tan, now you can be beautifully tan with Tropical Mist.

Sunless Tanners - Avoid the mess and time-consuming task of applying sunless tanning creams. One short tanning session every 5 to 7 days will provide you with an even tan without the streaks,dark spots, or orange glow. Great tan, no hassle!!
